UB40 St. Petersburg Concert reviews
The Boss energizes again!!!
It began with Badlands that got us all prepared for the ride ahead, a typical UB40 show with many memorable moments and a set list that pleased. During a brief rest in this incredible and uplifting ride, UB40 decided to grab a few signs from the crowd requesting some songs. For two childhood best friends who had been apart for twenty years and are now back on their own, this was completely unbelievable. The next 20 minutes were spent hugging, crying, and singing in disbelief as we belted out the lyrics of Good Lovin and Like a Rolling Stone. Before the show, I had stated to my friend that I would love to hear him do Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone. Todd (my friend) is also a lover of The Grateful Dead. So away we go. You see, UB40 had us happily dancing and singing full force with the crowd of 18,000 when he decided to pull 2 songs out of the blue. So, as he always seems to do, UB40 had us happily dancing and singing full force with the crowd of 18,000 when he decided to pull 2 songs out of the blue. I am also in the midst of a life-changing move back to the Burgh after 21 years in Va. I came to the show with my best friend who is going through a separation. We both had hoped to hear Backstreets (our favorite growing up), but The Boss decided to keep that one from us. To stand and sing "HOW DOES IT FEEL! TO BE ON YOUR OWN," with 18,000 others was truly a magical experience. The rest of the show did not disappoint (although Rosalita would have been preferred as a show ender over Mony Mony) as UB40 and the band created an almost religious experience for all. Go and see this band. You will NOT regret it.
